Map Viewer sucks. We all know it. Sucky framerates and lousy graphics, glitches and more.

Recording the real game using a private server / emulator would be the ideal solution, but no one who knows how to set one up has volunteered the information...

You see where I'm going with this.
I think its time somebody posted an in-depth tutorial.

Just sayin'

Well... I see that noone's replied to this. I dunno if your problem's been solved or not but I guess I'll try to help if not =)

There are a number of tutorials on the net, so I wouldn't be surprised if you found one by now.

Here's the guide I used. Simple to follow, just requires a Sign up on the forums (which is anything but difficult)

Bewarez! The above is a WoW Hacker/Cheater Friendly Site.

The links the guy posted aren't keyloggers are they?

Creating private servers is a bannable offense, and a serious one at that.

Just sayin.

Creating a private server is not a bannable offense. Creating one and charging for it, yes, but not for this use. Only when you make money off of it is it considered illegal. That, and blizzard has no way of regulating it.

I don't know about using mango, but I have set up a few servers with the below tutorial (Full and detailed tutorial).

http://forum.ragezone.com/showthread.php?t=402002

The site is updated very frequently, contains a lot of FAQs and support, and the server is VERY easy to set up on just about any computer.

WCM isn't suc ha bitch :) Personally I don't usually have any problems with it, especially with the framerate. However some shots are much better made on a private server, and there are a huuge amount of tutorials on how to make them. Just lurk the google more in-depth.

I have my own server for a long time and I tell you:

For a movie on your own... it sucks. For a real good one you will need the model viewer. Especially close ups in the game are impossible, because the models will always disappear.

You can check on http://mmowned.com

I haven't checked that forum a lot, google is my best friend!

First of all, be very cautious of anything you get via a site such as mmowned, since the majority of users are there for scamming and cheating purposes, with a relatively small portion of people there for artistic purposes. Caveat emptor. I suggest using google and finding the sites that are actually publishing the programs you want.

Second, not making money off of a private server makes no difference. When evaluating financial impact, they would look at what Blizzard loses more than what you gain.

Seeing as I have tried to machinima before, I know how to set up a private server, and in all honesty, it is very, very easy.

Download a repack (I recommend the WoWCORE repack from Acweb.org - no hackers/spammers there...)
Open up the files in this order:
MySQL.bat
Arcemu-logonserver.exe
Arcemu-world.exe

Change your realmlist to 127.0.0.1
Login with username: admin, password: admin

and there you go. Private servers are good for large shots, but for close ups, your stuck with Map / Model viewer, sadly.

I am a respected member of the emulation community on MMOwned and i can ensure you that none of the repacks in that contain any scamming/cheating material.

i recommend Aspire. ArcEmu is by far the easiest to get hold of. Just grab a repack from the Emulator Server Releases section on the mmowned forums.

hey, i use Mmowned.com myself, ragezone is also good.

for the cores Arcemu is the easiest to setup, easiest commands but most lagg and most cpu usage.
Mangos is very light but commands are very diffrent
Aspire/others i dont know
