Personally I am from a heavy theatre background and have been in many many shows, mostly musicals. Just wondering if anyone has the same background in that regards? How has it helped you with Machinima? How do you enjoy doing machinima in comparison to acting? I am currently in my listen to broadway musicals phase right now so I figured I would bring this up :)

I've directed and interviewed many actors, never been one though. I do listen to podcasts about acting to get some insight.

I had to take acting classes in film school and later I was in an improv troupe. Does that count? =P

Not only was I in it but I also played keyboards for like when the actor had a song challenge. The audience would pick the topic and then I would surprise the actor with a musical style  -------------------- |

I acted all through high school, did some outside community theatre type stuff, and now I'm doing theatre in college, and probably changing my major to technical theatre over the summer.
Plus also, best musical ever = Assassins by Steven Sondheim |

I've never had any formal training but I've been told that I can act relatively well and have a good voice. I have done some voice acting but I'm really more of a musician.

I've been an actor in 3 real films, in some machinimas and I've done a lot of voicing lately. Plus I once ate an actor if that counts for anything :teehee:

I have acted, and anyone know if they've seen The Producers (1968) never eat with them; and eating them is just bad taste; mind you I've met some hams who . . .
Best Musical: A Little Night Music Sweeney Todd Assassins; great concept, not one of my favorites. Seriously, the theater, acting background helps tremendously. |

I was pretty big into acting and musicals back in high school and a very small bit in college. I played the Baritone in the School Board Barbershop Quartet in the Music Man and Tommy Albright in Brigadoon. I was also in show choir, swing choir, One Act Play, and some small local stuff just for fun.
Impact on Machinima? Well, Mac would probably tell you I suck as bad as the rest of our cast so I guess the answer is, not at all. -------------------- |

From grade school on up through college I was on stage both acting and performing music (solo and with bands/orchestras). Mid-way through college, I took a backstage tech job and fell in love with that aspect of theatre. I've since done lighting, costume design and odd jobs with other roles (set construction/design, sound, etc.) for college and various community theatres. But it's been some years since I've done anything on or behind stage. (Though I married a man who has a drama degree. :P)
Has it helped me in machinima? I hadn't actually thought about that but it's a great question. I'd have to say it must have as it certainly gave me an awareness of all the different aspects of producing something - whether live, film or machinima. There's a lot of planning and so many aspects to be considered (what will they wear? what time of day is it? where will they stand? how much should they move and how? yada yada yada). And slightly off topic for a moment: For folks who "love the smell of the theatre", I have to recommend the video "Noises Off." Theatre humour is the best IMO. ;) With an all-star cast and AMAZING blocking/choreography (even though there is no actual "dancing, it goes WAY beyond basic "blocking"), the third run through Act I always has me rolling! ;) -------------------- |

I was in an Opera once. I played the role of Papageno in Mozart's The Magical Flute. I've done a few solo singing gigs before too (I even sang The Scotsman, the song I used in The Tauren's Kilt, on stage once.) But that's about it :P
